PGY2 Resident Bios

I’ve been blessed by God to serve as a physician, especially coming from a background of cyclical homelessness as a youth. I grew up believing that athletics were my call, despite receiving multiple D1 football scholarships, I realized that God had much grander plans for me. Trusting in God, I declined playing college football and attended UCLA for undergrad and medical school. At UCLA, I was first able to experience caring for individuals struggling with homelessness, as I previously did. I realized that all of my obstacles in life have shaped me to serve individuals that share similar hardships as myself. Throughout my journey in medicine, I've gained a passion for mentorship. I’ve created a mentorship program in South LA, for youth that experience those same hardships that I did, to challenge them to pursue professional medical fields. I believe that how we choose to bless others is more important than our own individual achievements.

Born in Loma Linda, as the son of two doctors, medicine has always been a part of my life. After getting my Bachelor’s in Health Science at Corban University, I returned to SoCal for sun, citrus, and school with Loma Linda’s MD program. I was drawn to the community health and lifestyle aspects of Family Medicine and love talking to patients from all walks of life. Outside of medicine, I enjoy hiking with my wife, escape rooms, and working out.

I was raised in Colorado and grew up in much colder weather. I attended Andrews University for my undergraduate degree in biochemistry and then attended Loma Linda University for medical school. My medical interests include addiction medicine and mental health, and family medicine provides an excellent broad base of training to pursue those interests in a rural or undeserved environment. Outside of medicine I have an interest in historical armors and metallurgy, as well as spending time outdoors.

Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Christina Kwon completed her undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University in violin performance. She then moved to Southern California for medical school where she attended Loma Linda University. She met and married her husband while attending medical school and welcomed a baby boy before graduating. As a family medicine physician, she hopes to provide a holistic approach to patient care while implementing continuity, collaboration, and communication. Outside of medicine, Christina enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and trying new foods.

I was born in Brea, California and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. After high school, I relocated to San Diego and obtained my undergraduate and graduate degree in biological sciences. I believe in treating patients holistically and I know that I can be my best and offer the best care when all aspects of a patient’s story are considered in the diagnosis and treatment plan. I enjoy painting, video games, staying active and spending time with my family outside of work!
 

I was born and raised in San Diego, CA and received my B.S. in chemistry at UCSD. While attending medical school in Idaho, I had many wonderful experiences rotating in rural and underserved areas, where I continued to learn about the important impact family medicine physicians have on their community. My clinical interests include full-spectrum family medicine as well as women’s health, pediatrics, and adult medicine. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue my family medicine training in Southern California at LLUMC-Murrieta. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling, cooking, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am originally from Egypt and grew up in Los Angeles. I attended UC Irvine for undergrad majoring in Public Health Sciences and worked as a scribe before I went to University of Vermont for medical school. I am excited to be back in Southern California for Family Medicine residency at Loma Linda - Murrieta. I look forward to my training in becoming a source of health and wellness for my community. Outside of medicine, I am a Lakers fan and enjoy basketball, snowboarding, traveling, and finding good food with friends.

Having grown up in the small, agricultural town of Visalia within California’s Central Valley, I experienced first-hand the difficulty of obtaining appropriate and timely health services due to the shortage of primary healthcare providers in rural areas. I began to develop a strong interest in providing compassionate medical care to underserved communities. I decided to go to UCLA for my undergraduate degree and would later matriculate into medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I chose Family Medicine because I wanted to provide patients with high-quality, comprehensive primary care and be able to form long-lasting relationships with them.

Hi everyone, my name is Lauren! I grew up in sunny Southern California before moving to Texas where I completed my undergrad in Biology & Spanish and later completed my medical training. Along the way I picked up the "y'all" as well as a fiancé, cat and dog. I am passionate about global health and rural communities and plan to do short term/long term medical missions in the future. We are all so excited to be starting residency back near family at Loma Linda!

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, studied Biology at Duke, and attended UC Irvine for medical school. I am excited to continue training in Southern California and to care for patients of all ages with an emphasis on preventive medicine, holistic care, and health and wellness as well as movement, nutrition, and skin conditions and minor procedures. Outside of medicine, I enjoy hiking, skiing, and cycling. Some of my favorite nature spots include Zion, Joshua Tree, and Death Valley.

I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. After high school, I moved to the East Coast and received my B.S. in Chemistry and M.D. at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am glad to be back in SoCal to continue my medical training in Family Medicine. My professional interests include mentorship, immigrant health, sports medicine, and women's health. In my free time, I love hosting small dinner parties (sous chef to my partner's talented cooking), spending time with our pets, and playing different sports.
